McGuire Wood & Bissette Attorney Alston Ludwig (pictured above with wife Lauren) received the 40 Under Forty Award presented by The Biltmore Beacon on the evening of September 28, 2017. 40 Under Forty nominees are recognized for their business successes and achievements as an active member of the community (http://www.40underasheville.com/nominate).
Our own Lou Bissette was the Keynote Speaker at the Gala event. Lou made note that this class of honorees are comprised entirely of the millennial generation and that at times millennials get negative treatment. Lou offered statistics that suggested this generation has in fact achieved benchmarks even more positive than previous generations. For instance, millennial women are making up an increasing percentage of the workforce, and earning more than women of previous generations. 63% of millenials want their employer to donate to social or ethical causes that they value, compared to only 50% of older generations. 81% of millennials have donated money, objects, or volunteer time to causes they care about. Quoting directly from his speech he said, “Our community, our state, and our nation’s future is in your hands. I believe that your generation can become our country’s next Greatest Generation particularly if the 40 individuals here tonight constitute a representative sample of your generation.”
