Murphy Horne Fletcher

Murphy focuses on helping businesses and individuals navigate local, state, and federal tax issues. Murphy assists clients with tax planning and research, and also represents individuals and businesses before the Internal Revenue Service, North Carolina Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities. She also advises clients on other, non-tax regulatory issues, including federal employment regulations. Murphy is a member of the Litigation Practice group, where she helps clients pursue or defend state and federal litigation. Her easy-going manner helps clients feel comfortable when addressing complicated tax issues.

  • Advocated for a local business before the North Carolina Department of Revenue, resulting in a decrease of sales and use tax liability
  • Represented an innocent spouse in the United States Tax Court, relieving the client of all federal tax liability
  • Represented numerous businesses and individuals before the Internal Revenue Service and North Carolina Department of Revenue, preventing liens, levies, and other collection activities
  • Negotiated offers-in-compromise with the Internal Revenue Service
  • Assisted breweries across North Carolina with startup and expansion
