Harris M. Livingstain

Harris tackles issues relating to estate planning, as well as trust and probate administration. His practice ranges from the very simple to very complex multi-generational estate planning that focuses on estate and income tax reduction techniques and asset protection. Harris also represents owners of closely-held or family businesses and assists them in the succession of those businesses to succeeding generations. Where appropriate, he also helps develop strategies for the sale of a family business to a third party. He has been successful in representing fiduciaries of estates and trusts in gift and estate tax audits resulting in substantial savings. Harris also provides general income tax planning to individuals and entities, and represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Revenue regarding audit and collection matters. From 1989 through 1992, Harris was Trial Attorney for the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice where he represented the interests of the United States in Federal tax matters. He has also served as Counsel to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Aviation of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Technology.
